What are the next steps?

If you've given your life to Christ you may be thinking, "what am I supposed to do now I Prayed the prayer."

First: You need to walk out repentance.

Repentance is an action word meaning to completely turn from what you were by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 3:8/ "Therefore bear fruit worthy of repentance." People should be able to see the internal workings of God on the outside. Progress, not perfection.

Don't listen to the shame

As a new believer, it is easy to fall away because there is no deep substance to your faith. During this time of newness and growth, you need to quote the scriptures that you are forgiven and redeemed by the blood of the lamb. People will come and say, "Hey, I remember when you..." You say I am a changed person by the grace of Jesus. Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

Stay connected to Jesus

During this time and throughout the rest of your walk with Christ, you need to be constantly connected to the vine (Jesus). Being connected means praying, reading, praising, listening to, and obeying the Holy Spirit.  John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

Don't forget what God delivered you from.

It is so easy to forget, because we have so much, we have to remember, but for the vitality of your walk with Jesus, you can never take for granted what he did for you. Psalms 63:1-8 "

O God, you are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You. In a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water. So, I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your Power and Your glory.  Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.  Thus, I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.  My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. When I remember you on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, therefore, in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.
